Somehow created time to explore my hitherto unexplored spiritual side. Despite the sweltering heat we managed our marathon temple visits in Kumbakonam and the surrounding areas. Felt so amazed by this unique temple town where every little street leads to yet another ancient temple and you really wonder in consternation about the historic and ancientness of each temple. Most of the innumerable temples are maintained well but many are undergoing restoration works as well. Sure tons of efforts are needed to protect these heritages.
For people who live in larger cities the small little extra warmth a waiter in a small mess shows towards genuinely satiating your hunger needs in the scorching sun or an old man after selling flowers in a remote temple asking you to carefully cross lest you bump into some speeding vehicles makes you understand how life is all about that precious care and concern you show to fellow human beings. Another amazing memory would be visiting the weavers who seemed to be a vanishing tribe and despite having an overflowing wardrobe bought those sarees just to contribute to their economy.
The grandeur, magnifence and mammothness of the Tanjore temple leaves you spellbound; small towns are indeed filled with some magnificent life stories and the overflowing affinity of the people leaves an indelible impression . Of course the taste of authentic Kumbakonam Degree Coffee made with very fresh milk and loads of sugar is a sinful indulgence that still lingers in the taste buds
