There are always flooding memories when you think of your mother especially when you are the mother of two twenty plus young adult professionals.

With no offense meant to moms of my generation, I still feel the generation before was even more selfless and their worries dint extend beyond whether their spouse and children ate healthy food on time every single day. I always wonder with consternation how a woman’s life can only be within the confines of her home. They wouldn’t bother much about not having bank accounts or amassing properties or aspire for identity of their own. For them the concept of I was almost non existent . They lived in their sheltered ivory towers not much worrying about finances and achievements in the outside world. I think the reason for their good health and breezing into their seventies and eighties is not to whine and be completely happy and content about the life they led and the journey they have traversed. They were fit and had the zest to take care of their grandchildren too without whining much and they came in so handy for working moms. Lo and behold they were the real messiahs for working moms. How could we even think of having a career if they were not around hale and hearty. We took them for granted and they were the care takers of our children .Definitely the kids were much safer with them than the high tech day cares of today. I very much doubt if I would have energy left to do that super grandmom role with the sedentary corporate life not helping my cause. Another aspect about my mom is the absolute freedom she gave to do whatever we wished to do in life. The freedom enabled us to face this world with absolute confidence and be successful. We had a mind which was clutter free during our growing up years and this is so crucial for any child to bloom and blossom. What a refreshing parenting style it was. But the days and times have changed. Glad I dint resort to helicopter parenting either but still have to give it to the generation x for putting up with working moms and all their tantrums. Have been fortunate enough to have mature kids who I turn to for advise. Sometimes it is hilarious it is the other way round and it is the irony of life I guess. Toast to all the unsung and selfless mothers of this world. So it is your turn to make that call everyday to find out if they are doing fine and to give them the feel that they are not alone. Okay we can also toast to all the career moms as well who are juggling with multifarious activities but no prizes for guessing where the heart really is. A mom is a mom whether she is working at home or outside ..no one can ever replace her in your lives..

Happy Mothers day
