Sometimes a short road trip in your own backyard to the nearby nandhi hills and the surrounding areas can be extremely invigorating and therapeutic for the frayed nerves.
The trip was filled with some terrific trails, treacherous treks and some steep climbs. The spectacular sceneries and amazing views were truly worth the efforts. The ancient temples in the vicinity were simply astounding and the experience was truly uplifting. The statue of Shiva in Chickbalapur is so mammoth and magnificent and you feel it is literally touching the sky. As you go near the statue and go around it you feel a sense of jubilation and realise how you are just a small speck in this universe. I felt it was simply marvellous artistry and truly one of a kind. As the day darkens and you wait impatiently the light showers not withstanding to witness the laser show you are truly transformed to the celestial world and the feel is definitely surreal to say the least. Would highly recommend this place for an amazing soul searching experience. No wonder people throng to Chickbalapur in huge numbers as the day gets darker to see this divine spectacle unfold and illuminate the entire neighbourhood with the humongous statue of Shiva nestled amongst the gigantic mountainous backdrop. Was in fact surprised that outskirts of Bangalore had so much to offer in terms of hilly terrains, spectacular views, cool climate and some spiritual uplifting feel all in a span of a single day. Much needed respite from glaring at the system for long hours and feels nice to be refurbished often without costing too much dent in your wallet.
