What a depressing night for the fans of Diego and in fact for the game of football itself.
The sporting world lost a legend who epitomised the game in every sense. The joy he gave everyone while watching him was truly unparalleled and his dribbling skills and artistry are hard to be surpassed. The greatest of all time no doubt. Adieu Armando. Watched so many world cup finals after the 1986 Mexico world cup finals but for me none of it came anywhere close to this finals which Maradona ruled like the true emperor of the game. His second goal against England after the infamous hand of God goal is one of the most sublime moments in footballing history and it is indeed the goal of the century. Seldom you see in a team sport such incredible dominance by a single man and Maradona is a true genius. The life of such a genius may be troubled and little flawed but you just cant take away the sheer ecstasy he gave fans when he deftly dribbled the ball amongst so many defenders and the feel and emotion you experience when the sphere finally beats the goal keeper is something which is hard to explain . Thank you Maradona for creating so many magical moments in the field which will be etched in the memory of football lovers all over the world. Truly the God of football and he occupied a space where no one can ever come close in the history of the game be it Pele, Messi or Ronaldo.
